Migraine
The migraine is a special type of headache,
and is one of the most common disorders treated by neurologists.
Known for millenia, it is generally a very
severe, sickening headache that comes on gradually, builds to a crescendo
and lasts from hours to days. It is often disabling.
Migraines are very common, and they are
most common in women of childbearing age, occurring usually around the
time of the menses.
Migraines are a significant cause of
disability, and a large armamentarium of effective medications are
available.
