Dr. Willner attended Hamilton College and New York University School of Medicine, graduating in 1970.
After a year of training in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital/ Boston Medical Center, he entered
the Public Health Service; for one year he ran a Neurorehabilitation unit at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and
for two years did neurochemistry research in the NIH laboratory of Erminio Costa, M.D. Dr. Willner
returned to New York to train in Neurology at NY Presbyterian/ Neurological Institute of NY. For five
years after residency with an NIH Teacher-Investigator award he did research at Columbia University in
neuromuscular disease and became co-director of the neuromuscular disease clinic. He consulted at
Helen Hayes Hospital.

Dr. Willner began practicing Neurology in Englewood in 1984. He is licensed in New York and New
Jersey. He is Board Certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has
privileges at Englewood Hospital & Medical Center and at NY Presbyterian, and he is Clinical Professor of
Neurology at Columbia University.

Recurrently, Dr. Willner has been listed as a "Top Doctor" by the Castle Connolly guide. He frequently
appears in New York Magazine and New Jersey Monthly as one of the best neurologists in the region. At
Englewood Hospital & Medical Center he served as President of the medical staff and for 6 years was on
the Board of Trustees. He remains active as a member of the hospital's Strategic Planning Committee
and serves on the System Board. His wife and two of his three children are physicians; too soon to say
about his four grandsons. When he is not working, you will find him doing yoga, gardening, or kayaking.
